dear mr ganesh,
Mathadi act is applicable to scheduled employments wherein headload workers that are unorganised, is applicable. Therefore in your case, where mechanical power is used to load and unload the material, mathadi act will not apply.

Dear dmc554,
Thank you for the insight on Mathadi act application. I would like to ask you the following:-
1) Is the minimum wage act applicable to Mathadi workers?
2) If you have a toli registered on daily wages for year and you do not need them later on daily wages but only for loading and unloading, can the contract be changed?
3) The Metal (excluding Iron & Steel) & Paper Board has arbitrarily raised wages by 40% (from Rs. 214 per day to Rs. 300 per day). They are also saying that the workers have to be paid for all 7 days a week. Is this justified? Can this arbitrary wage rise be challenged in court?
Thanking you in advance.
