Hi everybody,
What are the actions to be taken when an employee dies on the following occasions :
1. During working hours in the office premises(natural/suicide).
2. During working hours on the road
3. During holidays/sundays at home (natural death)
4. During holidays/sundays at home (suicide)
What are the benefits he will have on both occasions?
What would be the consequences?
What are the documents have to be maintained in office in respect of an employee?
I think, as a HR it is very important to know these details in depth. Also I feel, we must know the legality.
Please do clarify.
actually this topic was raised earlier but i not aware from all these things so pls. guide me.
Regards,
Indrajeet Singh

Dear Indrajeet,

Following actions need to be taken : (Para wise )

1. Natural Death : Inform Company Doctor, Nearest Police Station, NOK of the deceased, Insurance companies. Involve Safety Officer if employed. Subsequently give intimation to PF and Gratuity (LIC if exist). Suicide : Intimate Factory Inspector, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Company Doctor, Nearest Police Station, Safety Officer, Insurance Company for WC or EC - Suicide now a days not covered if proved.

2. Inform Insurance Company , if Personal Accident Policy, exist for All India Location as WC does not cover Out Side Premises. He will however be entitled for WC if on official duty outside and is in the course of employment.

3,4. Forget - No responsibility. The above agencies will do their job, panchanama, declaration of death, Police will carry out post mortem and subsequently you will get ' Death Certificate' which will only help you in getting all the benefits as cause of death mentioned in the Death Certificate will decide future course.

Hi there, Speaking of death prediction, I find it really odd that one of the on-line death prediction services showed me the same death date that I was foretold in my dream about a year ago. - I can’t explain this coincidence in any other way except that there must be some kind of magic involved here.

Dear Indrajeet Singh

Reply 1. During Working hours in Office premises : Inform to nearby Police Station, (About Date/Time/Cause of Death/Witnesses/First informer about the death/suicide) Next of Kin/Family members/Parents about the incidence). After giving the complaint at Police station with the concurrence of Police take the body to Govt Hospital for Post Mortem. Handover Rs.5000/- as Funeral Expenses to the family members. Hand over the body to the members and try to help them to conduct his last rites. For other details please follow the guidance of Mr. Manish.

Reply 2. During the working hours on road : Please send some persons for help at Police Station and at Govt Hospital to support the family members. You have to give Rs.5000/- for Funeral Expenditure and after Post Mortem handover the Body to the Family members. For other details please follow the guidance of Mr. Manish

Common for both : Get the Death Certificate and send the Form 10D and Form 20 for claiming the PF and Pension alongwith the latest paysheet and attendance copy, Service Certificate/Experience Certificate, Death Certificate, obtain the Passbook copy of the family members and their address & Name Proof and Age Proof of Deceased.

Instruct the family members to withdraw whatever amount in the bank account of the deceased as it can be withdrawn only within 1 day after death.

While claiming the Insurance claim you must attach a certificate that there is no foulplay took place in the death of the deceased.

Reply 3 & 4 : Please do inform to the Office concerned immediately on receipt of the information and after obtaining the copy of Death Certificate from the Family members process for the PF & DCRG benefits and PF Pension papers so that the Family Members can get the benefits well in time.

Mainly in office we must maintain the Will in 100 Rupees Stamp Paper and Keep the Nomination Details in a sealed cover and keep it alongwith the personal documents of the employee, so that it will help you in case of any dispute arises after his death.
