Hi all,
Are there any companies which take shredded papers/xerox papers printed on both sides.I don't think dumping them in waste bin is a good idea.
Additional ideas on reuse of the same is most welcome.
This is very small initiative that I am looking at going green.
Regards
Jhuma

Dear Jhuma
You can approach some Papermesh Toys manufacturing companies to take the waste shredded paper (cut in small pieces), for which you can get the payment also.
Search in your area.

The best way to dispose used papers is , collect all the papers and make it binding. so that it will be hard enough to blow your head. now start hitting your head with that binding book. by this you can get an idea of your own instead of depending on others.....hehehehehehehehe

All paper manufacturers use shredded paper to make pulp. You can find the one nearest to you and ask if they can arrange to pick it up. If depends on volumes naturally. Your scrap dealer (raddi-wala) will also take it and eventually sell it to the paper mills.

Wast paper (unshredded) is purchased in bulk from wastepaper dealers for recycling to make card board etc. If shredded, the paper can be recycled to make hand made paper/craft paper, which is used, as invitation cards, file covers, book covers, exercise book covers, etc.

it depends on the volume
you could use good paper and make it into small booklets that can be used as writing material and given when there are in house training programmes
.
create an awareness even before it is used so that the volume will come down
divide it and distribute in dept for all petty usage .
All the best and appreciate your initiatives

Dear Jhuma,
Paper is made from wood. Wood is becoming scarce. So, the less paper we use, the better.
We print everything we want to read. The first step should be to educate ourselves to read the soft copy! Still we do need to print. Well, these printed documents outlive their utility with time and they become surplus/redudant. Most often all our documents are printed on one side leaving 100% of the surface still useable. So, use the reverse for drafting. Most of us scribble a few words and having finished throw the paper in the dustbin! So, tear the sheets in two and have them distributed to office personnel for drafting. Issue instructions that the half sheets should not be crumpled and dumped in the dustbin. Have them collected and shredded. The shredded confetti makes excellent packing for crockery and glassware. You can dispose it off to packers and movers, incase you can't find people in your organisation who are proceeding on posting to outstations.
Warm regards.
