In general, What should be the basis in giving a salary increment to your staff? I am working in a project and I cannot understand our company procedures. They give an increment to one of my co-employee just because she everydays she goes home late. Is this a basis of effectivity and efficiency in one's work.

Just ask to your Hr manager regarding this.Coz according to the policy, there should be some criteria for increasing salary, there should applicable performance appraisal.according to the PA(Performance Appraisal) every point is measure of an employee like-
1. how much knowledge he is having?
2.How much he/she is efficient?
3. how is his/her behavioral with another employee?
4.Punctuality
5.Attendance
etc.
ask your Hr head regarding this.based on above points, salary is increased not on this basis that someone is going late. otherwise every time her salary will be increased but before ask TO HR ,just judge yourself that how much you contribute towards organization.
