hat are we trying to do?

a> Preparation of JD’s for each position

b> Competency Mapping

What is competency mapping?

Competency mapping is a process of identifying key competencies for a particular position in an organization, and then using it for job-evaluation, recruitment, training and development, performance management, succession planning, etc

Competencies include the collection of success factors necessary for achieving important results in a specific job or work role in a particular organization. Success factors are combinations of knowledge, skills, and attributes (more historically called “KSA’s”) that are described in terms of specific behaviors, and are demonstrated by superior performers in those jobs or work roles. Attributes include: personal characteristics, traits, motives, values or ways of thinking that impact an individual’s behavior

What competencies are we trying to map

a> Behavioral Competencies.

b> Functional/Technical Competencies.

How do we plan to go about it?

a> Using job analysis questionnaire to define essential job activities and responsibilities

b> Defining technical competencies and skills required to do that job efficiently

c> Defining behavioral competencies

d> And last step will be defining indicators for the behavioral competencies

What will be the process?

a> Benchmarking position for each workgroup

b> The employee fills the JAQ

c> The workgroup discusses and adds to JAQ defining essential activities/responsibilities/specific technical knowledge required/skills they use in day to day functioning

d> The job description is then discussed with the reporting manager and may be discussed with the key communicators for that profile

e> The JD from above step is used for identifying indicators for competencies as well as a part of competency dictionary

This will be used for further recruitments/training/performance appraisals etc
