I joined a company on 01 july 2010. I recieved my salary for July . I quit the company on 30 Aug 2010. i also decided to forgo my one months salary due to me for the month of august in lieu of my notice period of one month. Therefore i have not recieved my salary for August 2010. Now my employer wants me to remit back the salary which was given to me in the month of July also in addition to the salary i have forgone in august. My notice period in the company as per terms of agreement is one month. Is my employer right in asking me to remit my salary for the month of July as well for which i have worked.

Hi Rahul ,
May i know the reason why you quit the job ?
You have worked there only for 2 months and what is the mandatory working period for your old company .
They have invested their time , other resources for your induction process because they want to get some services from . As you left the company for a less span of time they may want to recover the loss , may be for this reason they are asking your last month salary also .

In this situation, they have the right to ask you to remit the salary which they gave to you.

Dear Vani,
Thanks for your inputs.
There is no such such thing as mandatory working period which was mentioned in my offer letter.
The notice period mentioned is one month in my offer letter.
Thanks and Regards
Rahul

Dear Rahul,
it is not proper to leave the job at the end and ask the compnay to take that pay as a notice period.
first have u submitted your resignation letter and intimated them about your intention for leaving the Job. If no, they you can go to the HR depart. Talk to them tell them the situation why are u quitting. This will only resolve the problem. So go and talk to them.

I agree, its also not going to look good on your resume if you quit a job in two months without a very good reason. If you delete it from your resume, it shows a gap which is another red flag. Really think about why you want to leave, try and resolve whatever the issue is and stay with the company if you can.
