Hello friend,
According to me HR graduate must have knowledge of labour and industrial law. You are right these laws are very important in manufacturing company. But they are also relevant in other sectors also.
As a HR manager you must be proactive. You must know the legal boundaries. Law is subject which every person should know. Mostly IT org. is following procedures which are more than rules which are stated in labour law. Such as they are paying handsome package therefore minimum wage not apply, working condition is good etc.
Same time labour laws are also outdated they want drastic change and it is certain that you will see amendment in this law. Then it will include service sector which had recently emerged.
Same time labour and industrial laws which are important to all the sectors are given below:
1. payment of bonus act
2. payment of gratuity act
3. leave rules
4. recruitment law
5. provident fund law
6. payment of wages act
7. contract labour law
As you know merger and acquisition are increasing role of HR manger is also increasing knowledge of law will be + point.
