Well one has to see whether this property is Ancestors property of the Earned by Son himslef.
Ancestors property is succor's property and succssion certificate can be produced to claim share in such ancestors property.
But if its purely earning of son then his succssor holds right to this property as major share.
If mother is dependent and have no one to take care of her and sole depenent on her son who is expired then she can claim her share provided she disclosed that she has no source of income and ancesstors property to share with succssor's of her son.
it means mother if she hold some part of ancestors property and have source for her survival cannot claim her son's property because she was not dependent on her son.

Dear Friend,
Please be clear and transparent, why you are saying the son of mother has died, the mother is natural or broughtup the son? Is the son has three siblings (two sons and daughter).. so, mother is alive, son died, the son have three siblings..two sons and daughter, the mother of son is grand mother of living siblings..if it is correct.. the property, provided all the three are major, if they are minor then the issue of safeguarding/maintaining of the property rest with the grand mother provided she accept, otherwise legal issues arise, the property goes to the siblings, the mother(grand mother) may become natural guardian, provided the daughter in law is no more alive, what happened to grand father?..so, please be clear in your raising of issue..
best of luck .......
