Dear All,
In our company, we have scanned the "Combined Challan of A/C.No.1,2,10,21 & 22" original form, and placed it in excel. Our payroll program is access the excel and fill up the required details in the form. We are doing this for the past 2 years without any hassles. Last month our challans were returned by SBI, Adyar branch, stating that henceforth only coloured challans are accepted and not neat white papers.
I enquired PF Office and they say that they are accepting white challans and not instructed the bank to stop it. But SBI people flatly refuse to hear anything or accept white challans. The coloured challans can not be automated because of thinness. It is very silly asking to go back to stone ages.
Please advise.

Dear N.Subramanian, Your practice is always good to reduce work, but Banks has its own rule. They may be sorted challans by color. Think from Bank’s view. You will realise.

Dear All, My experience says SBI peoples are realy hopeless people, you can not expect them to work as other bank people. These peoples are as like as government people.

Bank cannot be justified in returning the forms. Challans are prescribed by the PF authority and not the bank. After all banks are for its customers. SBI always do this nonsense since all the Govt. monies are held with them and they are the biggest bank in the country , prompting to do this.
