Can anybody tell me whether is there any exemption of payment of profession tax for those having single child. If it is there please quote the rule/act which will be helpful for me.

Dear Babuvittal, There is no exemption on professional tax for having one child or two child. The exemption comes only when your gross salary is less than Rs.3500/- per month. Regards, Praveen

The exemption limit raised to Rs.5000/- w.e.f. 01.08.2008. Again, Exemption limit raised to Rs.10,000/- in the recent State Budget.

Yes, exemption is available vide Notification No.FD 4 CPT 2003, Bangalore, dated 27.10.2003, provided the person has under gone ssterilization operation and has not attained the age of fifty years in the case of a male and forty five years in the case of female, subject to production of certificate from the District Sugeon, Government Civil Hospital, to the effect of having undergone such operation.
