Hi,
One of our employee had gone for Maternity leave by Mid-March and the employee assessment for Promotion was w.e.f 1st Apr. She has taken extended leave till Nov 30th. And she is trying to claim promotion and appraisal stating that she was eligible for Promotion / appraisal. How do we proceed with it? Plz. revert urgently

Promotion is not acquired right of employee, its reward for performance to elevate employee on the basis of his suitability as well as depends on following conditions:

The assignment of an employee to a different job classified in a higher grade based on organization needs, existence of a vacant approved job, fulfillment of job requirements relative to peers and subject to management approval.

May please be taken into consideration before review of request by such employee..

Thanx for the input. Need another clarification - if an employee is eligible for annual appraisal and the employee is on maternity leave, will she be getting her appraisal / salary hike?

Appraisal Is Done Of Her Performance For The Remaining Actual Working Period.
Its Management Discretion To Decide What They Deemed Fit. But Maternity Leave Has No Bar On Her Eligibility For Performance Appraisal Because Appraisal Is For Performance Not Increment.
All Performance Appraisal Doesnot Results In Increments..
