Dear All,
In the recent past (June 08 ) we have successfully conducted the Cite HR Meet in Bangalore. I have proposed and initiated for such meets across Karnataka to help the HR Professionals in other cities. As a part of it we planned to have the program in Mysore, but unfortunately the response is poor and the volunteers who are working aggressively to conduct CHR Meet in Mysore are getting disappointed.
There are more and more events are happening across India for all other professionals, (IT, Admin, Finance, Project professionals) and no programs or few programs only happening for HR Professionals. Whatever, the programs happening for HR Professionals is almost a flop show everywhere. This is because of lack of awareness what is happening or lack of interest in learning more on current trends of HR.
There are some programs for HR professionals being conducted by IIM Bangalore, and an association of Trainers (an informal group of Trainers) is conducting a program every month. These are free programs. Even now a days the participation of HR people in Cite HR has come down. The healthy discussion on a different topics in Cite HR has come down.
There are people who are conducting programs exclusively for HR professionals at a very nominal cost.
We could see few takers only even for the free programs too.
Are we HR professionals not thirst of learning more? Or we thinking that, we are expert in our profession
This is my concern
Put in your thoughts and comments how to improve this.
Regards,
From India, Bangalore

Dear Praveen,
I agree with you. But to make the HR professionals to know their importance, many forums are organizing such events. No one is understanding the importance of it. If you see the programs on other domains, the response from the members are overwhelming even if the participation fee is higher side.
If u see HR events, though it is free, only few people are attending the program.
Even for this thread, no one has replied or put in their views.
