Yes this is the alternative question of " Tell me something about yourself ". If they asked it in another way: you mention your name, your designation if any, then say today i am here as a interviwee to face interview for taking oppertunity in your organisation. After that you may say about your aim, strength, hobbies etc.

Probably the interviewer tried asking the same old question in a different way "Tell me about yourself".. If you think twice, "tell me about yourself" is a polite way of asking - "Who are you?"

Hi...
In my views, if someone ask u dt who r u then u should confidently give ur introduction & gently ask the interviewer in which area u want to know about me so that i can tell u in a better way.. This is quiet a tricky question to confuse the interviewee but it should be handled carefully & confidently.
Thanks & Regards

This is a usual question asked in all interviews. Another way to ask this is "Describe yourself" or "Introduce yourself".Pl.repare for this and answer. Prakashkaulas

to me "who are you" is not at all a confusing question .Answer is as under:
1.I am a human being
2.I am a citizen of a country
3.I have my own religion
4.I live in a society
5.The professional identity
I have just given the outline ,now, if you explain this answer, you have to say it in the exact order given above. No way you can make it no.4 or no.6. Whatever you think, that has to be under the above mentioned 5 points.

If someone did ask "Who (the hell) are u?"....something would pop up in mind like this....
"I am an HR Fat & Short (OR Slim n Tall)
This is my degrees n certificates lot
If there is Indiscipline hear me Shout
Pick me up or Throw me out!!!!!!!!"
Never mind if picked up from "I AM A TEA-POT" Poem!
