Yes, Principal Employer is responsible for Bonus for contractual workers And this is true even if you are giving a piece rate, or a lumpsum, or any other method you follow

Since statutory bonus is limited to employees who get wages of less than 10000 per month, at that level you are not liable under law to pay bonus. However, there may be an agreement or in ther terms of employment that he will get bonus above that limit, then you need to still pay it
