Dear all
Our GM will come to the birthday employee with a card, handshake and wish. Supposedly to be "personalized" approach.
Doesn't work for me if you ask - still prefer material gifts.

giving gift to each employee whoever is celebrating their bday will b expenses to a company, so wat i suggest to u is jus have a cake cutting each month for those who ever is celebrating their bdays and also have small fun games. Plan out the party time like for an hour and insist ur employees to comp off the hour in the next working day or in the weekends. :)

Hi,
I think that it is a very good practice to celebrate a colleague's birthday by getting together in office for about 10 minutes and cutting a cake. It gives that special feeling to the person who is celebrating his/ her b'day. Although it may entail some effort and (money)?, it may be well worth it.

Hi All
I guess it's pretty much the same everywhere. What we do in our org.n is:
1. Circulate a Birth Day mail to all employees.
2. Give a bouquet and a gift/coupon/cash to the birth day person on that day
3. Celebrate all birthdays of the month on the last Friday of the month, names of all written on the cake.

Hi All,
In my previous company,
1. We will display the month's Birthday babies list on to the notice board & the intranet on the first of every month.
2. On the birthday, a mail would be sent the employee marking copy to all other employees
3. We will also present a cash voucher on the birthday.
My present company,
1. We will do common celebration for all the birthday babies of the month by presenting a card & a small gift & cake cutting.

Hi,
Our company is a multi locational one and on any employees b'day i on behalf of all send a b'day wish mail to the concerned employee marking a copy to all employee.
and then each one wishes him/her through an e-mail.
Its not only every time the gift/ cake or recognition that counts, but yes i very much feel that its just a matter of wishing someone good that too on his/her b'day makes a great difference.
The person feels good and important.
There can't be a policy but practices do persists in each organisation.

Hi all
In my office we give a card (signed by all the directors)and a flower to the person on his or her B'Day and the person gives us a snack treat.
In the last Saturday of each month we celebrate the birthdays of those who had in that month by cutting cake. All from office account.
Also we give a notice board reminder of the birthdays in a month.

very well said ..its important to make a professional who spends 8-10 hours in an office feel belonged .. isit asking for too much to have a small little do for birthdays !!!
If the organisations are really large like IT/ITES why not a diplay on notice board (daily basis) and a little party monthly (for all the bdays in the specific month)
cheers
Anjali :)
