If I'm not wrong PF is to be deducted for those employees even if the basic salary exceeds Rs6500/- by virtue of increments (i.e those EPF members whose salary exceeded the statutory maximum level will continue to contribute for EPF (both employee and employer) which can be restricted to the limit of Rs.6500/-)

But for the new employees whose basic salary exceeds Rs.6500/- it is not mandatory.

Dear sadhanai,
The 1.1% is towards admin. charges for EPF
The 0.5% is towards contribution for Employees Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI)
The 0.01% is towards amin charges for EDLI
The above are calculated on the total salary bill (basic).
Hope you are clear

hello aarti,
Firstly the pf deduction is taken on the basic and the maximum basic is 6500\- pf is saving which the organisation is providing to a employee.
Secondly the person who is intersted for deducting shaould have a basic above 6500\- also explian the importanceof pf in today life how it is useful for himand for family members even then if he he is not intersted you can stop PF

hi Aarthi,
Under PF act employer contribution for also EPF pension scheme and also Provident fund scheme.. so no restriction on employer PF contribution for ur provident fund.. he must contribute for ur basic pay. but no need to pay full contribution for ur pension scheme.. employer pension contribution only on basic pay of 6500 and less.. if ur salary more than 6500, employer contribution may limited only of 6500. but he must pay for provident fund contribution..
you know one thing...
employee provident fund contribution 12 % of basic pay
employer Contribution also 12 %(pf contribution 3.67% + pension contribution 8.33)
employer contribution not detect from employee salary..
so Aarthi u have rights to ask them to open ur pf account...
