Dear HR colleague,
Don't be scared of your boss who is finding fault intentionally with your performance suddenly to deny you your legal right of Maternity benefit and creating circumstances for you to quit the job. You certainly need to teach him lesson being in HR for the sake of other female staff. Follow procedure as per the act relating to application for the ML , doctor's certificate etc.
I suggest you go on record by writing to your MD ,about his malicious intentions to deny you ML, putting all the facts /gist of the discussions on the subject date wise and marking copies to Govt Labour Officer and the NWC.
After this he will dare not take such action and even if he does, it will be held against him later in due course. But don't give up.and fight to the last till he is made to kneel down.At the same time ,maintain cool and create proper evidence/ documents.
Wish you success!
Regards
