In our company, we organize cake cutting once in a month but our's is a bit different from other companies. We cut cake in the mid of every month because it is done according to zodiac signs. All staff members (from different departments) of the same zodiac signs get together with all the company staff present in the cafeteria followed by cake cuttin, cake distribution with cold drinks.
By this way, people greet each other & they come to know about the people of different departments. Also, saves time & money.

but organizations never think about the most important & emotional part
which is - "Employees Wife"
We created our own way,
we are not cutting the Cake or not giving the Flowers,
Just only send one Greeting to employees house with "Best Wishesh from all of us" with signed.
this is generally practise no organization is doing.

We wish warm greetings to the employee on the same day through mail & send it's copy to everyone in th ecompany.
We celebrate birthdays of all Staff Employees in the first week of the month whose birthdays came in the last month.
Bouquets are presented to those employees by our MD & It'a a kind of gathering of all staff employees. Birthday Song is played in the background.
We offer snacks to all & also use this platform to reconise & give rewards to the Monthly Contributors who have done extraordinary in that particular month.

We celebrate by cutting cake(big size) for all employees who celebrate birthday
on the particular month by last friday of each month.
B'day List displayed for every month on the notice board and b'day babies
workplace is decorated with flowers on their b'days.

In our company, we celebrate employee's b'day by gifting him a cheque of Rs. 501/- and a b'day card at the hands of Director of our company. This way the employee gets an opprotunity to meet Director (the top most authority in the company). This practise has proved to be very useful for the 3rd and 4th grade employees who usually dont get such opportunity.
We also display name with best wishes on notice boards.

My suggestion is totally different from our respected HR colleagues. I suggest to provide compensatory off with birthday allowance (according to the basic salary of the employee, may be 5%, 10% or 15% as per the companies policy and it will deduct in the other allowance account head) to the employee, due to any employee birthday coming in once in year time period and it will definitely motivate his moral to celebrate his birthday with his family members and if he/she feel to invite all staff members with family (generally invited all members but some participated or some will not participated due to their priorities), this way, I think the organization may setup different birthday celebration policy with the saving of valuable production time in the office place and person also feels honoured with his birthday celebration as per the his own choice and convenience.
