If your are at your 7 or 8th month when you applied the leave then it is mandatory rule for your employer to give 3months of maternity paid leave, and after that it will be a loss of pay or based on your earlier performance they may pay you for 1 more month to retain you.
In case of you applied for the pregnancy leave at the month below 5 then there are few loop holes for them to give excuses. Please check the date from when you have applied for the maternity leave.
Please go through your company terms and conditions list to check if any Clause is been given for maternity leave.

In a company if a women becomes pregnant as soon after she has been promoted to another department of the same company, her salary has been increased , but despite all of this she is absent from duty on false statements that she is being hospitalized and is showing illegal documents proving her admission in hospital , but the employer is still giving her a favor . She has then applied for a maternity leave but her intention is to avail the medical facility provided by the compnay and then quits.
