Perhaps the problem is that "critical incident" is also a description those of us in the human service area use to describe a traumatic incident, such as an industrial accident, a crime situation, a violent act witnessed by people. The critical incident then has a critical incident response person who works with witnesses and perhaps victims to help them process the situation for a more positive result in terms of mental and physical health.
Some doubt the validity of this process but actually it is of significant help for those working long term with people involved.
