I faced a problem where the new employer asking my previous company tan&pan details ( In order to check that company paying tax or not)to release offer letter. Is that such type things there to ask employees to get their company tan & pan details. Can I ask my previous hr to get that details? Are they share ?

Dear Anji Gudditi,

Why your future employer is interested to know the PAN/TAN details of the past employer? What is the logic of asking for this information? Suppose they are not paying taxes. But then how can you be held responsible for the non-payment of taxes? The actions or decisions of the employers are beyond the control of the employees.

Did you submit Form-16? If yes, then tell them that the details in the form are sufficient. Over and above providing information about the current employer is not a norm and it cannot be provided. Of course, it may mean foregoing the job opportunity. Are you prepared for that?

The demand by the future employer is unreasonable. At best, they can visit www.zaubacorp.com to get information about your past employer.

Otherwise, did they have apprehension about Form-16 or the experience letter you provided?

Thanks,

Hi,

TAN and PAN of past employer is not all required for the new employer. Even if you ask your past HR they will not share it that easily. You can simply answer to them that you don't have access to those details and also past HR is not providing the details.
