Dear All, I have a Small doubt about a death claim of PF, one of our Employe recently passed away in June - 2021. But her Last contribution Dec - 2020 In PF. due to she crossed 15000 sealing Salary. Therefore we were not deducted the PF amount from her Salary from Jan - 2021. Here My doubt is her family members are eligible or not for EDLI and Pension. which reason mention with an exit date Cessation short service or Death in service. Please give your valuable suggestions.

This is a great blunder made by the employer. Employee was member of EPFO till Dec,2020 and due to increase of her PF gross more than 15,000/-, PF contribution has been stopped by the employer. Due to lack of knowledge of the employer, the family of the deceased employee will suffer. Once any one member of EPFO, that cannot be discontinue even the employee salary cross the threshold limit i.e 15,000/- per month.

The family member is eligible for both EDLI and pension. Please visit to the concerned PF office with one request letter stating that by mistake the contribution has been stopped from 01.01.2021 and repay the pending contribution with penal interest and other charges to give necessary support to the family members.

Let us hope for the best.
