Dear Hries,

You need to issue two relieving letter. You have to follow same process as employee exit and join to the company. The format of relieving letter would be same as you issue to the other employees.

The relieving orders are plain and simple indicating only the date from which the employee stands relieved from service, the issue of when the employee joined service is irrelevant in it.

Basically, was there continuity in appointment, (like continuation of Employee number, protection of designation, seniority, pay, promotion eligibility etc) if so you the entire service period has to be counted together. If for all purposes the second appointment was a fresh appointment order, then the service for the present employment would only start from the second appointment date.
