The employer is at liberty to fix any amount as wages depending on factors like qualification required for the post, corresponding wages for similar post in similar industries in the region etc. However, it shall not be less than the statutory minimum wages, if the employment is a scheduled one under the Minimum Wages Act,1948 and if not, not below that of the National Floor Level Wages fixed and periodically revised by the Central Government.
