As per labour department notification dated 02 April 2018 the Minimum wages of Gujarat as revised with effect from 01st April 2018 to 30 September 2018.
The Statement showing the Gujarat Minimum wages Plus VDA (Variable Dearness Allowances) payable to the workers under Scheduled employments under the Minimum Wages Act, 1948
The employer is required to pay to every employee, engaged in a scheduled employment under him, wages at a rate not less than the minimum rate of wages notified for that class of employees without any deduction except as may be authorised.
very employer is required to maintain registers and records giving particulars of employees, the work performed by them, the wages paid to them, the receipts given by them and any other required particulars.
Definition of Minimum Wages Act
Any Manufacturing process carried out in any factory as defined in Section 2(m) or Section 85 of the Factories Act,1948 other than those notified under Part – I or Part – II of the schedule of the Minimum Wages Act,1948.
Objective of the Minimum Wages Act
The Main Objective of Minimum Wages is to provide for fixing the minimum rates of wages in certain employments.
It provides for fixing minimum wages in certain employments where labour is ignorant or less organised and is vulnerable to exploitation.
