See even now also you have to give holidays. Under Payment of Wages Act read along with Minimum wages Act and Shops and Establishment Act, if you are retaining a worker beyond reasonable time (60 days generally), irrespective of method of payment he is employee. You need to give holidays. So irrespective of the mode of payment you need to give holidays See the website below.

Dear Somashekar,
Even if casual worker, if he has worked continuously for 6 days a week, he will be entitled to a paid weekly off day. You will have to pay him for 7th day also for the weekly off. Question of no work no pay does not arise in that case.

If the wages declared by the govt are monthly then wages are to be divided by no of days of the month and weekly off is to be paid. If the wages declared are daily wages then pay for days worked.

Dear Mr Naik, As per your query, If Minimum Wages is Daily rate you need not pay the wages for off day, 7th-day wages is included in the wages,

After 6 days weekly off has to be given. No employee, casual or otherwise, can be asked to work for more than 10 days at a stretch in a rare case.
