Hi Buddy,
First fix one day before diwali for celebration and ask your employees come on traditional dress along with their family if possible on that day and have a tea party along with your MD.
This will give your employees and their family a opportunity to interact with other family members of employees and MD too. Your expenses will for Some decoration item, Tea, Snacks, soft drinks and cake.
