Professional Tax - Pdf Download [thread 428984]

i newly join the hr asst. what about the Professional tax it is have any act. this is covered to insurgence and any other expenses. how do calculate the professional tax. please kindly update the act number.

Hi,
Any Person earning a salary of Rs. 21,001/- and above per half-year is liable to pay Profession Tax. Employer is liable to deduct the Tax (as per slab rate) from the salary payable to such person before such salary is paid to him in the month of August and January of every year and pay to the respective Corporation where the establishment is located before 15th September and 15th February respectively without fail. Failing which penalty will be levied as per rules.
There are two half yearly periods in PT remittance.
1) April to September
2) October to March
Find attached the details for slab rate pertaining to Chennai location.
