Dear HR professionals,
I am working in a Non-profit organisation.I am in a state of confusion. We had hired one staff who looks after PR and Comm. for a 6 month contract period. His contract is expiring on this June end. Management has decided not to continue is service as he is not reliable and suitable for the post. Now as a HR manager its my duty to give him a letter telling him about his one month\'s notice period that he has been terminated and organisation doesn\'t need him. But i am feeling little odd how to say to him about his termination as he is a very good guy. Kindly suggest me how and what should I tell verbally and what to write in a letter?
Thanking you

Dear Simone,
The said employee is on contract. Therefore, whether to extend the contract period or not is the prerogative of other party. Please make a note that this is not a termination.
All that you need to do is to send him a letter stating that as per the contract agreement dated _____, it expires on _____. Management of this company does not wish to renew with this contract further.
Management science tells us that we need to take decision from head and not from heart. We pay for the performance and not to the person. Therefore, mere employee being "good person" is not sufficient.
Yes, I agree that yours is non-profit organisation and not commercial organisation. However, yours is neither a political organisation. In politics it is perfectly acceptable to nominate a "good person" as presidential candidate though this "good person" may have a poor track record as minister.
Ok...
