Dear ravi
The following are the basic differences
1)The industrial Disputes Act is applicable to all indutries. The BIR Act is applicable to specified inustries like the textile industry, Power transmission industry lik ethe BEST in Mumbai, Sugar industies and the establishments in cooperative sector like cooperative banks etc.
2)The Industrial Disputes Act does not provide for recognition of trade unions. The BIR Act provides for Representative Union and the Union in the approved list which have the sole bargaining power.
3)the workmen have to issue a charter of demands to seek any change in the existing servcie conditions under teh Industrial disputes Act, where as they have to issue approach notice under the BIR Act.
