Dear All,
What is the calculation for gratuity payable,if a person in employment for 12 years with basic +DA of Rs 15000/- was absent for more than 15 days every month in the 6 months preceding his resignation ( Due to Sickness). That is he was drawing only around Rs 7500/- in the last 6 months ,but was drawing much higher in earlier years.
are we supposed to take Rs 7500/- as salary for calculation or Rs 15000/-.
Would be grateful for a reply.
Regards,
Ganapathy

Dear Ganapathy,
While calculating gratuity amount one is required to consider the the rate of wages last drawn per month & not the amount actually earned in any month as defined under the P G Act, 1972.
