Dear Friends,
Please i want your opinion in the ADVANTAGES and DISADVANTAGES of making the evaluation for all employees in a specific month of the year..

Hi,
Making Performance appraisal in a specific month of year is best than performance appraisal on the joining date of the employee.
Advantages:
1.We can understand actual competency of employee.
2.We can understand deviation between employee actual performance and job requirement.
3.It is helpful to know weather employee have need of any training or not.
4.Easy to understand employee efficiency level and area of interest.
5 Performance appraisal helpful to determine employee promotion, transfer, demotion.
6.It is helpful to set new standard of the job.
7.It is helpful to know employee strength, weakness, opportunity and threats to understand for which job particular employee is sutable.
8.Performance appraisal helpful to determine performance based pay.
9.It is helpful for best control on the job and achieve organization objective.
Disadvantages:
1.Time consuming.
2.Costly.
Thanks,
Reshma.

Reshma has provided a good list of advantages. However, it should be noted that the same advantages can be experienced disregard whether the appraisal is on an annual (specific month of the year) or anniversary (joining date of employee) basis.
Conducting appraisal based on anniversary basis creates a massive administrative hassle for all stakeholders especially HR. Common industry practice is to have at least 1 formal appraisal at financial year-end and another mid-year informal appraisal just to ensure that employees performance are on track.
