Dear SiteHR Seniors,
I am associated with a group of Educational Institutes offering education at graduate and postgraduate students thru different colleges, academies and institutes. There are different institutes and colleges working under the umbrela of a main Public Trust. All institutes and trust employ many employees under broader categories of teaching staff, non teaching staff, manegerial staff, administrative staff, supervisors, assistants, clerks, peons, housekeeping and maintenance staff etc. My query is about whether below mentioned legislations are applicable to the educational trust and educational institutes detailed above:
1. Minimum Wages Act
2. Payment of Graduity Act
3. Shops & Establishment Act
4. Provident Fund Act
5. Profession Tax Act
Please respond.
Thanks & Regards

Dear friend,
Education has already been once for all declared as an industry by the Apex Court. Therefore, all the enactments concerning labour you have mentioned are applicable to the people employed therein.
